Lee’s arrogance was the downfall. His belief in his men, strategy, and supposed weakness of the Union Army blinded him to the truth.

I can see how Lee might have viewed Longstreets suggestion of swinging all the way around the flank and rear to be too much of a gamble. The Union army had thousands of reinforcements on their way in that area. And it would see that he felt attacking the empty round tops would still accomplish the same flanking move without the extra complications of Longstreets idea. And frankly, if it weren’t for General Warren on the Union side, the Confederates might well have taken LRT.

Salieri for all his jealously. Would not have harmed Mozart. He was too in awe of his musical genius which came without any apparent effort? There where far far far more sinister types in the darkened shadows of the King's court, who where more than up to the challenge of eliminating his influences on the King. Had Mozart lived another ten years? what masterpieces of perfection he would have composed? quite honestly, I am not even sure he had reached his peak. Just warming up?

I wonder what was the next move for Lee IF this charge had met their objective that day? I don’t recall any discussion about a secondary charge or support to widen the breech and force the whole Union army from the field. I guess he was hoping the Fed’s would just take flight.

A creeping barrage by 25 pounders has to be one of the most terrifying things a soldier can ever experience in battle. It must be hell on earth to be watching the explosions come towards you. A Bridge Too Far has to be one of the best War Films ever made. We will never forget the Heroes of Arnhem and the sacrifice that the greatest generation made during World War 2.

Mr. Blair was hardly rotund, rather quite thin. Also Blair was never a General., perhaps the writers confused him with his son Francis who became one during the war. Meanwhile Lee's cousin S. P. Lee said "When I find the word Virginia in my commission I will join the Confederacy.". He remained in the Union navy becoming an Admiral and leading both the Northern Atlantic Blockading fleet and then the Mississippi River fleet. The Union cause owes no small debt to southern born generals who stood with their country such as 'the Rock of Chickamauga' George Thomas and John Gibbon as well as southern born Admirals Farragut and Lee.

If I took a test on the confederacy in school, I’d probably flunk it. I know little about the confederacy but it was a rebellion to the United States. The entire southern states Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginias had their own government going on

While this movie is historically wildly inaccurate, I love the portrayal of his personality and the impact his music had. We must not forget: Until about this time, an "artist" was not connected to a personality. Being a painter or a composer was just someone who made products like a carpenter. They were paid and delivered goods. Mozart was one of the first "personalities" who didn't much care about being traditional music-writers. He wrote music because he felt the urge to. He was full of it and he had to let it out.

Gods and Generals is blatant neo cuck-federate propaganda. But for all the objectively horrible people that he was surrounded by Lee wasnt half bad. But hes still a traitor, he chose to lead the rebels and the blood of many, both enemy and comrade alike, are on his hands. If theres one thing i wish people would take away from Lee, its that he said not to make statues after confederate traitors
